Vidya: Your work doesn't reflect on your intelligence

ISHQIYA is a success, Vidya Balan has come in for some appreciation all over again and the fact is re-emphasized that she is indeed one of those select female actors in Bollywood who come with brains and also have an intellectual bent of mind. Her body of work which includes films like PAA, PARINEETA, LAGEY RAHO MUNNABHAI, HALLA BOL, ISHQIYA and NO ONE KILLED JESSICA, which she has just signed, is a testimony of this fact.

"I choose work about which I am luckily truly convinced about", smiles Vidya, "I am sure other actresses do that as well and make their own career choices with just the right earnest. However, just because some of them may be playing a role which is really dumped down, it doesn't mean that they are not intelligent? Samajh sabme hoti hai and this is why I always maintain that the work you do is always not a real reflection of your intelligence or the lack of it."

Now it seems like Vidya is just being her modest self. "No, not at all, I am not trying to sound holier than thou here", she reasons, "All I am saying is that it takes a great amount of effort even if you are playing a role which may be run of the mill. It's their on-screen persona which may make you believe that they are not as intelligent. However, the fact is that they are indeed in control of their life; so let's not form any particular image of theirs in your mind. Everyone is trying to do his or her best here and you never know who surprises you with his/her next release."

Well, with ISHQIYA making waves, one definitely looks forward to yet another quality outing from Vidya rather than encountering any unpleasant surprises.
