A group of 40 volunteers of the May 17 Movement, fighting for the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils, gathered in front of Kamal Haasan's office on Sunday in Alwarpet (Chennai), demanding the actor to step down from the president post (south) of FICCI (Federation of Indian Commerce and Industry) and urging the FICCI to change the venue of upcoming IIFA 2010 (India International Film Academy Awards) from Sri Lanka. They also insisted Kamal to give his Padma Shri back to the central government. The protesters say that FICCI is one of the sponsors of IFFA awards to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka between June 3 and 5. Pro-Tamil groups have opposed the choice of venue, considering the brutalities inflicted by the Lankan government on the Tamils there. Later in the day, Kamal Haasan issued a statement explaining that he shared the sensitivities of the group and pointed out that he had already stated that he wouldn't participate in IIFA 2010. He also mentioned that none of the members in FICCI would either take part in this awards ceremony held in Colombo.

Pookutty, who won the Oscar award for best sound designing for Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire", was speaking to the audience during a 'Masterclass' conducted on the sidelines of the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Saturday. "To be honest I wanted to be a physicist and win a Nobel for India, but I won an Oscar instead. I'm just as happy," Pookutty said. "I've always loved science and wanted to pursue my studies in physics. Eventually I took up a course in sound engineering. That's when I realised that this is so much more than engineering, and that this is what I love doing and this is what I want to do," he said. He said festivals like IFFI encouraged a filmmaker to further hone his skills. "Such film festivals have encouraged me and helped bring me up to where I am today. I'm thankful and happy to be in Goa at IFFI again," the master sound designer said".

Malayalam Tamil Kannada actress Sridevika is to marry Mumbai based pilot Rohit Ramachandran on March 27.Sridevika became popular with Ahathian's Kannada film Ramakrishna in which Jai Akash acted.

The betrothal was held in Hotel Gajala at her native place Palghat. Sridevika is the daughter of agriculturist Sethumadhavan and Shoba. The marriage is approved by parents. After discovering new stories can’t be believed, ilayathalapathy Vijay is becoming the king of remakes. Vijay will play the role of Rancho in the Tamil remake of Rajkumar Hirani directed 3 Idiots. Compared to Ajith, Vikram and Surya, Vijay looks cool and young to play the role of Phunsukh Wangdu (Aamir Khan) in Tamil.

Directors Vishnuvardhan and Dharani was rumoured to control the set. Vishnuvardhan is now busy with Telugu film with Allu Arjun and Ram.

Sequel to 'Red', big screen adaptation of the DC comics that starred Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren, as the studio executives have begun work on the follow-up. Contactmusic.com reports, the film, which also starred John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman, has grossed $164 million till date worldwide since its release in October last year and even landed a Golden Globe nomination for best picture - musical or comedy at this year's ceremony.
The bosses at Summit Entertainment have invited writers Erich and Jon Hoeber back to write a follow-up. However, it is not yet known whether any of the original all-star cast will return for the planned sequel.
