Salman Khan, brand ambassador of the IIFA Charity Initiative in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Habitat for Humanity and UNICEF, has whipped up a wave of interest as Khan's 'Being Human' and his largesse have been well documented in most periodicals.

After the success of IIFA in Macau, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani will show up as hosts once again for the IIFA Awards 2010. Incidentally, Lara and Boman will play hosts for the fourth time at the Awards, while this is Riteish's third time teaming up with funnyman Boman.

"I've been to Sri Lanka earlier, it's a beautiful country," states Lara. "And now that there is peace prevailing there, it should be all the more exciting to go there now. A humble boy from Kerala goes on to make the right sounds… hah, quite literally… and soars to the global spotlight, winning an Oscar, no less!

Resul Pookutty, Academy award winner for 'Slumdog Millionaire' ('Best Sound Mixing'), earned collective media hype as 'Shabdathapadham' (meaning 'in the way of the sound track'), his autobiography in Malayalam, penned by Baiju Natarjan, was released by His Excellency Shri K. Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra, at a scintillating event convened at a famed five star hotel in Mumbai.

The 'Mozart of Madras', A R Rahman bagged the privilege of receiving the premier copy from the hands of the Governor, even as eminent lyricist Gulzar looked on fondly.

The autobio, running into 53 chapters, traces Resul's journey from his early childhood days in the pristine surroundings of Kerala, studying under the lights of kerosene lamps in a remote hamlet, to studying law and ending up at the Film and Television Institute of India. Besides, the book also delves into the realms of cinema and sound, and spotlights his encounters with the legends of cinema.

Expectedly, it also looks at the one event that changed Resul's life forever. The glittering Oscar night at the Kodak theatre in Los Angeles and the mounting euphoria that it set off..

Says Pookutty, "I'm not sure whether this is an autobiography, travelogue, reference book or something else. For me, it is the journey of an ordinary man thrown into extraordinary situations."

Incidentally, this is the first time that an Oscar award winner in India has unveiled his autobiography, and it's English version is on the anvil too.

Kareena Kapoor's a jet setting star, though, a jet ski into the kool blue waters of Goa is something she'd not bargained for.

For a crucial scene in 'Golmaal 3,' director Rohit Shetty wanted Bebo jet skiing in the Goa beach waters. However, KK would have none of it, as she was confessedly petrified of being in the sea all by herself on a jet ski, an act she'd never attempted before.

Director Shetty assuaged her fears, and told her to get acclimatised to the sport, before she could attempt it onscreen. With the help of an instructor, and then largely on her own, Bebo was able to jet ski safely into the beach's aquamarine waters.

What's better, she delivered a perfect 'take' for 'G3'… and did a few more to obviate any trouble due to technical hassles. Guess, Shetty's showering more praise now…

Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites just can't keep out of trouble. A week before the release of the Rs 150 crore film, producer Rakesh Roshan faces allegations of copyright infringement.

On Monday, a Bihar Civil Court ordered a stay on the film's release after a person named Laxmi Prasad, of Sunbeam Holdings, claimed that Roshan owes him Rs 10 crore, allegedly for the copyright of the action scenes in the film. Talking to HT City, a baffled Roshan said he's never heard of this man before. "I have no idea who this guy is. He lives in some village in Bihar and claims that he has the copyright for the action of my film.

How is it even possible? The action director of our film is Hollywood-based Spiro Razatos. There is absolutely no truth in this. My legal advisors are looking into the matter and the team is flying to Bihar today (Tuesday) and I hope the matter is resolved soon." Rubbishing rumours that Roshan agreed for an out-of-court settlement and will pay Prasad Rs 5 crore now, Roshan says, "I have never heard from him, I have never met him or spoken to him for any sort of negotiation.

Asked if the stay order will affect the film's release, Roshan says, "Absolutely not. The film will definitely release as per schedule. When contacted, the spokesperson for distributors Reliance Big Pictures, while acknowledging that there's legal trouble, said, "We cannot comment as the matter is sub-judicate."

Reportedly, Vaishali hinted to producer Puja Bedi, that she'd be expressly uncomfortable working with him, and that it would prove detrimental to her career to pair up with Ahuja at an early stage of her career (her debut 'Kal Kisne Dekha' didn't exactly set the cash registers ringing)

Earlier, co star Soha Ali Khan refused to can her scenes with Shiney Ahuja for the wrap up schedule of 'Ek Accident'. At her insistence, Soha's shots were filmed in Mumbai, while Shiney's shots for the same scene were canned in New Delhi.

Besides, Jahnu Barua's 'Har Pal' starring Preity Zinta and the actor too faces an uncertain future.

"The film's dubbing is over," states Barua in a periodical chat. "But the producers are hesitant to release 'Har Pal'. After what happened with Shiney, they are cautious."
