The 58th National awards saw Aadukalam win in as many as six categories. Following this triumph, members of the cast and crew met the chief minister, J Jayalalitha and received her hearty congratulations and best wishes for the future. When all were expecting Prabhu Solomon to throw a grand function to celebrate the rare achievement, he is quietly moving on strengthening his career.Prabhu Solomon was to start his next film for producer Lingusamy with his 'Mynaa' hero Vidharth. Vishal has started dubbing for ‘Avan Ivan’. As said before the character Vishal plays in the film is a special one and the dubbing will be a real task for him. Remember him saying that his role demanded a lot of physical and emotional strain to perform and that delayed the film?But Vishal is taking all pains with pleasure as he is very confident about the film by Bala. A group of 40 volunteers of the May 17 Movement, fighting for the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils, gathered in front of Kamal Haasan's office on Sunday in Alwarpet (Chennai), demanding the actor to step down from the president post (south) of FICCI (Federation of Indian Commerce and Industry) and urging the FICCI to change the venue of upcoming IIFA 2010 (India International Film Academy Awards) from Sri Lanka. They also insisted Kamal to give his Padma Shri back to the central government. The protesters say that FICCI is one of the sponsors of IFFA awards to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka between June 3 and 5. Pro-Tamil groups have opposed the choice of venue, considering the brutalities inflicted by the Lankan government on the Tamils there. Later in the day, Kamal Haasan issued a statement explaining that he shared the sensitivities of the group and pointed out that he had already stated that he wouldn't participate in IIFA 2010. He also mentioned that none of the members in FICCI would either take part in this awards ceremony held in Colombo.

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruthi Haasan is currently pairing with Surya in the Tamil film Ezham Arivu. She is also pairing with Siddarth in a Telugu film. Shruthi while speaking to the media said,” My childhood dream is to become an actress. I like music composing, singing and acting very much. Composing music is not an easy task. Shobana is a comedy actress who had acted in TV serials and films. She has also acted in many films including Sillunnu Oru Kadhal , Jaganmohini and Sura with Vadivelu. Shobana had committed suicide on Monday by hanging herself when her mother had gone out to the bank. When her mother returned, she was startled because Shobana did not open the door. She somehow managed to enter the house and found out that Shobana was hanging and was struggling for life. She immediately called her neighbors for help and Shobana was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead. The reason for her death is unknown. She is yet to be married.
