Ketki Dave returns to small screen in negative role
Ketki Dave, known as Daksha of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', returns to the small screen in a new avatar in 'Behnein' - she will be seen in a negative role in the Star Plus' new show starting Monday.
'I play a character who is very dominating. This one is challenging because it is not a normal negative character that we see. I made sure that she doesn't become this loud, caricature-like character. It's a real-life character so I have tried to make it real,' Ketki told IANS.
'Behnein' revolves around the life and journey of four sisters. The show also stars Darshan Jariwala and Shruti Ulfat.
'The show is set in a Gujrati family but I won't be acting in the same way I did for 'Kyunki...' This character won't be speaking in the manner Daksha of 'Kyunki...' did, no comedy, she doesn't even smile. But my character is very interesting,' she added.
Ketki was seen in films like 'Money Hai Toh Honey Hai', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Kitne Door... Kitne Paas' and 'Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya', among others. She also participated in dance reality show 'Nach Baliye 2' and 'Bigg Boss'.
She says accepting the offer was not a conscious decision to change her image. 'I did not do any conscious efforts for image change. I waited to get a different role because I wanted to try out something new.'
While she was not doing daily soaps, Ketki was busy with theatre. She worked in a Gujarati play called 'Tum Tumare Jalsa Karo Jamairaja'.
After trying various mediums of acting, she feels that movies bring long-term popularity.
'You get more popularity on television, but it is short-lived. Movie popularity is a long term thing. For example, if I become a hit in movies, people will remember me for a longer time. On television, you become an instant star but as soon as the serial is over, your popularity gets over too,' she said.
