Two Years, Top Five, UTV's Yuppie Triumph!
You probably can't have enough of it. UTV Movies, UTV World Movies, UTV Bindass, UTV Action, UTV Hungama…, the magic has caught up in big time with youngsters and the heartening response to their yuppie channel has gladdened the hearts of Screwvala and Zarine Mehta.
Screwvala, Head of UTV and Mehta, his creative director, have reason to beam. In a short span of close to two years, UTV launched with four speciality channels and without a General Entertainment Channel has emerged among the top five players in the channel field.
"We've broken the mould, "beams Screwvala, "We were passionate, else we would not have been able to do it." The youth-centric channel (average age in his company is about 30) has set standards and the head honcho is all praise for the youth. "They're terrific, work very hard and are truthful", he avers.
Commenting on the spate of child suicides due to academic pressure, Screvwala confesses, "I failed in my Inter! Parents need to back off. Failing in academics does not mean failing in life."
