Mammoth 'Veer' Scales Up To Hollywood
Mammoth in scale and lavish in production, the catchy promos of 'Veer' have already captured attention and anticipation is peaking as the movie inches towards its Jan 22 release. Trade analysts have compared the historical flick's scale to that of Hollywood biggies such as ' Gladiator', 'Troy' and 'Braveheart'.
Shot extensively in Rajasthan, 'Veer' produced by Eros International Media Ltd Presentation and Vijay Galani Moviez Production employed thousands of fighters, horses, hundreds of elephants and camels, and it's highlights include a full fledged war and a train robbery. Apart from all these, 'Veer' bagged the distinction of being the first B Town film to be shot at the Buckingham Palace. Shootings also took place across the United Kingdom using chariots, vintage costumes, horse carts and items particular to the 19th century. Another valiant step is that director Anil Sharma has totally avoided the use of special computer effects and has given 'Veer' the feel of a classic epic project. Efforts are on to take 'Veer' to international audiences.
Producer Galani has been raving about his unerring choice of the lead actor. In a Press interface, he says, "Salman is the ideal star to play a warrior. He's larger than life and adds charisma to a vengeance driven heroic character."
Incidentally, it took story and scriptwriter Salman Khan close to 20 years to pen his saga centred around a freedom fighter and Pindari soldier who battled for social justice and independence. Coincidentally, Mel Gibson penned 'Braveheart', while Salman set 'Veer' in words.
Guess, Khan is on the write path.
