Bachchan Gets Lifetime Honour
Amitabh Bachchan has probably got used to it by now. However, it is another feather in his already much feathered cap, as he receives the Apsara Lifetime Achievement Award tomorrow. Thankfully, the Big B has not created any ruckus on being conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award, like his one time colleague Rekha had done a while ago. By all indications, the Big B will naturally accept the award in his usual graceful and humble fashion.
It is ironical that the Big B is being honoured by Apsara, who incidentally have an ad being aired on TV these days, where the protagonist, an absolute take off on the Bachchan of Shehenshah days, is seen begging for an award.
Well, the ad could not have been better timed as it seems that the Apsara 'devi' has heard the pleas of her devotee and conferred an award on him.
Well, the Apsara Awards will see a lot more firecrackers as Bachchab's longtime rival Shah Rukh Khan will be performing on stage after a gap of more than two years. Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan are the other actors who are all geared up to set the stage on fire. The films in contention are the usual suspects like 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Kaminey', 'Wake Up Sid' etc, all of which have been judged by a panel of judges which included eminent filmmakers like Ravi Chopra, Govind Nihalani, Ketan Desai, Jhanu Barua, Kalpana Lajmi, Prem Sagar, Suneel Darshan, Umesh Mehra and Sajid Nadiadwala. Incidentally, Apsara Awards include Awards for film and television. Of the awards being conferred tomorrow evening, five will be for television and the remaining 23 for films.
