Filmfare Award was initially commenced, to honor the efforts & talents of the Hindi Film industry, in 1953. It is the highest platform as per the Indian Cinema is concerned. With the advent of the awards, more people were found to be interested in filmmaking. The lucrative fact is the worldwide recognition that it is associated with it. The Filmfare decided to widen its sphere and, as a result, had included the South Indian Cinema into its realm - the reason being the growing popularity in the trend of making movies in South India.
