7 Khoon Maaf Review

Vishal Bhardwaj's films always have a different story to tell, be it Omkara, Makdee, Maqbool or Kaminey. His films are usually high on content. His "7 Khoon Maaf" is based on Ruskin Bond's 'Susanne's Seven Husbands'. It is a dark thriller about an incorrigible serial spouse-killer, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka). She is a beautiful young girl, who ties the knot seven times, following the mysterious and untimely deaths of her hapless husbands. Priyanka's character ages from 20 to 65 years in this movie and it is unquestionably the role of a lifetime. This story happens in a sprawling house and at a time when there were butlers, maids and housekeepers.

Natakame Ulakam

It has been an age old debate in Malayalam on what has been the impact of mimicry on films here, over the years. Mukesh and Jagadeesh have been known for some of such comic capers in the past and they have tried to repeat the same old tricks in director Viji Thampy’s Natakame Ulakam. But the sad part is that it looks thoroughly jaded and ineffective in a big way. It’s quite a tough task to remember what the storyline is once you get out of theatres after watching this film and it gives the feeling that the sequences were decided on the set, day after day. Omanakkuttan (Mukesh) is the manager of a bank, headed by his father in law (Jagathy Sreekumar), who hates him. Pappan (Jagadeesh) is a peon there but he, along with Omanakkuttan, spends more time practicing plays. Nandana (Saranya Mohan), who is love with Murali (Vinu Mohan), comes to become the heroine in one of the plays.
