Twitter gives Parvin Dabbas title for his film

Bollywood
celebs like Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar are on Twitter to connect with friends and fans, but actor Parvin Dabbas found a novel way to use it - he got a title for his directorial venture thanks to the social networking site.

'It was actually Mr. Anupam Kher who suggested to me to take to Twitter to hunt for the title,' Parvin told IANS over telephone.

The actor had initially announced a cash reward of Rs.15,000 to whoever would suggest a title that he would choose.

'I had announced about the cash reward within my cast and crew. One day Anupam-ji came and asked me to post it on Twitter as well. He also Tweeted about it. We had a few other titles but finally 'Sahi Dhande Galat Bande' was selected,' he said.

Parvin is still trying to find out who gave him the film's title. The only cue is that he is one among Anupam Kher's 26,420 followers on Twitter.

'We are figuring out who the person is and where he lives. If he's someone from outside Mumbai, we'll get him here and give the reward,' said Parvin, who has acted in films like 'Monsoon Wedding', 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara' and 'Khosla ka Ghosla'.

Parvin's 'Sahi Dhande Galat Bande' is an action comedy with a political twist, and revolves around a gang of four guys. Apart from Anupam, the film also stars Vansh Bharadwaj of 'Heavens on Earth' fame, newcomers Kuldeep, Ashish Nair and Tina Desai.

The cast also includes Kiran Juneja, Sharat Saxena, Yashpal Sharma, Neena Kulkarani and Vipin Sharma.

Parvin is not only directing the film but is also acting in it. Asked if it was difficult to tackle both the responsibilities, he said: 'I did a lot of preparation in terms of storyboarding as well as acting. I knew how I would be handling it.'

Delhi boy Parvin has mostly shot the film in various parts of the capital and claims his film doesn't cater to a specific audience.

'I am not a kind of person who keeps a target audience in mind. It is a film that will be watched in multiplexes, single screens across towns and cities,' said the actor.

'It has been an interesting journey. I am happy to get work that I enjoy. I try to do something that people would enjoy and get entertained,' he said.

Apart from his directorial venture, Parvin is also doing films like 'Undertrial' and 'Alibaug'.

Deepika Okays Co Actor Ranbir?

Deepika Okays Co Actor Ranbir?

The unusual two of 'Karthik Calling Karthik' are generating awesome hype, which works in favour of the flick. Er, media buzz citing a romantic bonding between Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone too has escalated to a high.

Padukone, however, is far from amused and has been slamming all such talk vehemently, asserting that "such stuff should not be written."

Her liaison with love interest Ranbir Kapoor has gone kaput, though DP insists that she's looking forward to the Vicky Singh venture starring the two. "I have no problem working with Ranbir," she asserts in a media chat. "But the role, the script and the director have to be all right." Guess, DP's all sorted out.

Does Farhan have a double role in 'Karthik...'?

If you are wondering whether Farhan Akhtar has a double role in 'Karthik Calling Karthik', continue speculating for some time. The actor has refused to spill the beans on his role in the soon to be released film.

'All I can tell you is I play a lonely introverted character down on his luck, unsure and inarticulate. Everyone takes advantage of the guy I play,' Farhan said.

He is quick to point out that he doesn't play a geek. 'Karthik isn't a geek. Something happened in his childhood to make him the way he is. This guy is just an introvert.'

All the films that Farhan has been seen in so far have been produced by the actor himself. 'I've no issues working for any producer as long as the project and its backers are rock-solid. An actor's worst nightmare is if his project stalls midway.

'With 'Karthik...,' for the first time my company is co-producing a film with another company called Magic Bean. Director Vijay Lalvani came to me with the offer to act and co-produce the film.'

Releasing Feb 26, the film also features Deepika Padukone and Shefali Shah.

Farhan admits he was offered Rohan Sippy's film with Abhishek Bachchan. 'I couldn't do it because the dates clashed with Zoya Akhtar's (his sister) film. I love her script about three friends. The fact that I've done films about male bonding before ('Dil Chahta Hai', 'Rock On') didn't deter me. No one stops to ask how many films about the man-woman relationship are made every year. Then why not more films about male friendship?' he said.

Farhan's next production tentatively titled 'Crooked' does not feature him in the cast. 'I'm very happy just being the producer. I've written the dialogues. It's already interestingly cast and didn't need me. While promoting 'Karthik...' I'm also doing pre-production of the sequel to 'Don'.'
