Buzz is that Siddharth Mallya now thinks that Deepika Padukone is the lucky mascot for his team and she should show up more often when his team is playing the tournament.

It's gotten quite deep into his psyche.. and Siddharth 'Striker' is finding it immensely tough to shake off the persona of Surya, his 'tapori' character in the Chandan Arora helmed film.
The carrom centric opus has taken over Siddharth with a sweep."I spoke in the same 'tapori' manner to my mom, who got really upset. She warned me to speak normally. But I was really finding it difficult to make the switch back to speaking normally."
Chandan Arora's STRIKER may not be your typical Bollywood masala fare, but it certainly has what it takes to appeal to the Hindi film audience, and this confidence emanated from none other than the lead actor, Siddharth, while talking to India's leading trade expert.
While replying to a query as to why he chose Chandan Arora as the director of his launch as a solo hero in Bollywood, Siddharth replied that he was very happy and lucky to have Chandan as his director, and felt that working with the director of MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON and MAIN MERI PATNI AUR WOH has been an organic experience for him. Siddharth went on to term STRIKER as a classic, but humbly added that the fact that he has termed his own film a classic may sound arrogant, but that is because he had seen the film and hence the confidence!. He also made a proclamation (which he says might sound pompous!) saying that when his career will be analyzed in the future, STRIKER will be counted as the film which made him!
Well, that's called confidence, and after an incredible success rate of nine out of ten solo hits down south, its time for Siddharth to strike and make it a tenth with STRIKER, which is all set to release this Friday.
A huge star of the Telugu film industry, Siddharth may not be a known name in Bollywood, except for a short but impressive role in RANG DE BASANTI but his chocolate boy good looks in the Idea Walk And Talk AD has made him quite popular with the females. His upcoming film, STRIKER has come after a gap of almost four years. The film revolves around a carom player who comes from a poor family in Malwani area of Mumbai (1980s) and has a passion for carom and goes on to win the junior championship.
However, lead actor Siddharth categorically denies that STRIKER is a sports film, although the game is very central to the plot. He prefers to call STRIKER a period drama which is inspired by the times when every day young unemployed youth used to go out of slums empty-handed but returned with thousands of rupees, all because of their skills in carom. He goes on to add that there used to be around 3000 carom clubs in the city and the underground carom scene has been breeding hustlers and gamblers for many years.
Looks like the intelligent actor has done his homework and after this insight it gives us all the more reason to check out STRIKER which releases this Friday, that is 5th February!
Actress Vidya Malvade says she enjoyed working with Siddharth on the sets of their forthcoming film 'Striker' as they shared a very friendly relationship and often played pranks on each other.
'I have shot 98 percent of the time with Siddharth and I must say he is a fine actor. He is very supportive and a fun guy to work with. He is not at all selfish and helped me during shoots.
'We share a very friendly relationship. I kept slapping him now and then. We are very comfortable in each other's presence,' Vidya told IANS over phone from Mumbai.
Vidya, who carved a niche for herself with 'Chak De! India', was last seen as Minnisha Lamba's mother in 'Kidnap'. But in 'Striker' she plays a college girl who belongs to a lower middle-class Maharashtrian family.
'The name of my character is Devi Sarah. I play a college going student. Devi is a very straight forward and simple Maharashtrian girl. You would always find her with books because she believes that by studying hard she can improve her family's living standards. She is a girl you would easily relate to as a friend, sister, girlfriend.'
'I could understand the role easily as I am a Maharashtrian myself. I know how it is to start from scratch. My dad has also gone through the same struggle and by god's grace we have been blessed.
'I am carrying a very toned look, not very glamorous. You will see me in salwar-kameez, and neatly tied-up hair.'
Talking about her roles so far, she said: 'I agree, I have done the most unconventional roles. I have always done roles that excite me and even in future I will do the same.'
Apart from 'Striker', which is releasing Friday, she will be seen in director Kabir Sadanand's 'Tum Milo Toh Sahi'.
Releasing in April, 'Tum Milo Toh Sahi' is a tale of ordinary people at different stages of life and how their intertwined roots make them a tree.
'The movie brings out very sweetly the spice of life. It stars Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Suniel Shetty, Mohnish Behl etc. It was an extraordinary experience to work with such senior actors,' Vidya said.
Siddharth is an actor who uses wrong finger to play carom from childhood; only after he started practice did he realize that how all experts' play.
Like all other games even carom has its own set of rules to follow. While preparing for STRIKER, Siddharth, who had to practice for hours to learn carom and become an expert. Apparently Siddharth was facing a problem while preparing for the role and the problem was that he used to hit the striker with the wrong finger.
Since he was good at the game, Chandan Arora wanted his each and every move to be accurate and so he decided to get Siddharth trained by a professional before they could start shooting for his carom sequences. To their surprise they came to know that 90% of the carom experts, including the one who was summoned in to train Siddharth actually played with the wrong finger. After undermining this fact there was no stopping to Siddharth and he ended up giving some exceptionally professional shots.
Says Siddharth, "Since childhood I used to play carom with the wrong finger but never bothered to correct it since the wrong finger always helped me play well, unfortunately while shooting for STRIKER, the wrong finger habit cropped up as one of the major concerns and Chandan brought in a carom expert to train me. When I sat down to play with him did I realize that most of the players play with the wrong finger... This helped me cut down on one of my biggest worries."
