There is no doubt that Karan Johar's Tarun Mansukhani directed DOSTANA has gone a long way in highlighting a new facet in both Abhishek and John Abraham's acting career. And ever since a sequel to the highly successful film has been announced there is a perceptible excitement amongst the movie buffs.

It was recently heard that Abhishek had given bulk dates for DOSTANA 2 as it was all set to commence in July and as a fallout Abbas-Mustan's THE ITALIAN JOB remake (which also features Abhishek) had been stalled.

To ascertain the facts we spoke to Tarun Mansukhani. After a short pause Tarun said, "Well... I can only say that it is someone's speculation and imagination. Right now we are working/finalizing the script of DOSTANA 2 and so the question of the film commencing early or affecting the schedule of another project (featuring Abhishek) does not arise.

Well, script is the king and we don't mind waiting for another dhamaal act from Tarun in the shape of DOSTANA 2.

He's lost a crore already. And he's earned the ire of John Abraham! Abbas Tyrewala had to accept the loss of a crore as a song number choreographed by famed choreographer Michael Gracey was scrapped and had to be reshot in Mumbai as Tyrewala found "Gracey's sensibilities too alien."

Now, '1-800-Love' Johnny Boy's flick costarring Pakhi, Tyrewala's spouse has hit a troubled note with the hunky star. A special screening of '1-800-Love' held for J Abbs, left him reeling in shock… as it turned out to be Pakhi's film all the way, with JA being sidelined severely.

Says a close source, "John was terribly upset when he saw the film because there was an overdose of Pakhi in the '1-800-Love' and John was hardly there in it! It was as if the film was a showreel for his wife."

A miffed Johnny Boy reportedly ticked off Tyrewala and made his stand clear by refusing to promote the flick. Guess, it's called double trouble.

He's hunky, hot and rather goody two shoes. But Abbas Mustan's 'Race 2' is slated to spotlight John Abraham in a negative role, parallel to the one essayed by Akshaye Khanna in 'Race.'

After 'Dhoom', which earned J.Abbs scores of admirers, the director duo are sanguine of success by fleshing out Johnny differently in their sequel.

Incidentally, the character that Abby enacts is not only flamboyant, he's also possesses a huge collection of imported cars and bikes.

"Everybody knows what an avid biker John is," says a close source. "His look in the film is extremely sexy and sophisticated. 'Race 2' has plenty of stunts, car chases and deep sea diving sequences." Anyways, John's just racing ahead…

John Abraham is impressed with girlfriend Bipasha Basu's fitness DVD for women and says it's equally good for men and soon she may come out with the second edition of it.

'I... well... feel she is in the prime shape of her life. And though it is meant for women, it is equally good for men. I think she is coming out with a second DVD. I will follow that too,' John, who was here to unveil the logo of the first ever Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week, told reporters.

The 39-year-old, however, clarified that he has no such plans for himself.

'Right now, I have no such plans. May be 15-20 years later I will come out with a DVD when I am fitter,' he said.

Praising Bipasha, he said that she looked in amazingly good shape after regularly doing the fitness exercises.

Abraham also had lot of good things to say about Bipasha's Bengali movie 'Sab Charitra Kalpanik'. 'It is such a beautiful film. Sometimes certain cinemas miss out on some angles. But Bengali cinema is so layered.'

Asked why he has not been seen in any movie since 'New York', John said: 'Earlier I was doing lot of movies. Some of them were good. Some not so good. I am learning through experience and being selective.'

He says that before signing contract for a film, he gives importance to three things - the entire set up, director and producer and the hero.

'But I must say in lot of films now, the hero is discreet, as one finds in 'Sab Charitra Kalpanik'.

In his early days as a model John Abraham had even walked the ramp in a lehenga! The macho actor said though some in the audience had balked at his outfit, he is grateful to the designer Mona Lamba who gave him the opportunity in 2000.

'I remember walking the ramp in a lehenga you (Mona of the designer duo MonaPali) had designed. As I was walking I saw some in the audience loved it, while others were a bit taken aback. But thank you madam, for giving me the opportunity in my early days as a model,' John told reporters here.

He was in town to unveil the logo of the first ever Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week.

Commenting on his fashion statement, he said: 'For me, the best fashion is the one I am comfortable with.'

John has no favourite designers, but said: 'Among Kolkata designers Sabyasachi (Mukherjee) is brilliant.'

Encouraging the young designers, he said: 'You all have a long way to go. Remember, fashion is not about actors who wear your dresses, but about the dress itself.'

Racy John is raring to ahead in his career. The avid biker, though, is also deeply clued in about road safety. John Abraham, thrilled to bits with his historic Delhi meeting with racing super champ Valentino Rossi, decided to put his forging friendship to good use.

Apparently, both were amply distressed by the manner in which youngsters seemed to pick up the wrong clues from iconic bike riders, and take to riding harshly! Pronto… an awareness campaign was on the cards.

Besides, J. Abbs is expressly elated at the Rossi autograph, he holds today. The "God of motorcycles" signed his message into John's bike book. It read… 'To the professor of bikes.'

"I'd like to tell youngsters that it is not cool to ride motorbikes without helmets," states the hunky Abbs in a tabloid quote. "I feel that we high profile bike riders project the fun aspect of the sport, but not the danger."

John Abraham did illumine his histrionics in 'Water'. But the recent aqua crisis in Mumbai, which unfortunately, director Deepa Mehta can do precious little about, has served to make J. Abbs a wee more careful of water usage.

"When I take a shower, I make sure that I do not waste water," reveals the hunky actor in a Press quote. "We should all learn to have a shower with just one bucket of water. Besides, while shaving we should take care to see that the taps don't run. People who are suffering from an acute crisis will benefit more when we save water. The water crisis is a global situation now and rather than blaming the Government, we should make the world a better place to live in."

His prison centric flick 'Jail' suggested a fleeting scene where one male prisoner performs oral sex on another. In the commercial circuit too 'Dostana', illumined Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham who pretend to be gay lovers in order to rent a plush apartment as paying guests.

Girl loves boy is great as traditional fare in cinema. But man loves man… is no longer being shoved under the cine carpet. Male actors, ready to be in the buff (Neil Nitin Mukesh in 'Jail') and show a shapely butt (John Abraham in 'Dostana') are giving leading men a new dimension!

Men will now make love to males on celluloid. Case in point: 'Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyon..' highlights a love making scene between two males in a bath tub! A close insider reveals, "Aryan Vaid plays a bisexual married superstar from Bollywood and he has a fling with another man played by Kapil Sharma." In a tabloid quote Kapil stresses, "We made sure that the scene did not look sleazy."

Yet another offering, 'It's A Man's World' centred around male prostitution will scorch the sexual scale, with the makers claiming to have canned a rape sequence where a man is the victim!

A reliable source states, "The film also has a molestation scene at a nightclub. The actor playing the victim was not told about the minute details. It has been shot like a reality tape scene and the guy was genuinely shocked when four men suddenly pounced on him. The reactions that you see on his face are for real!" Rear theme, here…

John Abraham must be batting his woes privately, with the grapevine abuzz over his impending split with Bipasha Basu. David Dhawan, his director of 'Hook Ya Crook', meanwhile, is batting professional peril with reportedly Rs 30 crore riding on his cricketing opus!

The painful delay is being attributed to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, no less. As per insiders, a 20 minute sequence between India and Sri Lanka remains to be canned and the expensive climax is facing a jinx as Dhoni has been unable to spare time for the schedule, apart from trying to get the two teams together.

Dhawan, however, has moved on … and commenced work for canning scenes of his 'Partner' sequel starring producer Salman Khan and Govinda.

It has been a while since Genelia D'Souza signed a new film. While her CHANCE PE DANCE is all set to arrive in a few days from now, she is also waiting for a couple of other films of hers to hit the screens. Her David Dhawan directed HOOK YA CROOK (where she is paired opposite John Abraham) has been delayed incessantly.

That's not all as even Anees Bazmee's IT'S MY LIFE with Harman Baweja has been in the wings for quite some time with the principal shooting over close to six months back. Even earlier, her JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA was pushed by more than six months before it hit the marquee. Isn't that frustrating?

"If a delay means better release date then I am all for it. You know, so much hard work goes into the making of the film and sometimes the makers just release a film abruptly without giving much thought to factors like market conditions, screen availability, an adequate hype and buzz. Thankfully this hasn't happened with me and looking back at JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA experience, I am doubly confident that a good marketing and promotional plan is so very important. I am willing to wait as long as my films continue to do well", she smiles away.

One can understand her positive stance. After all Genelia D'Souza would be beginning 2010- all set to be an eventful year for her in Bollywood - with CHANCE PE DANCE and one can foresee that her film looks good enough to hit the bull's eye. More so because quite a few romcoms in recent times have been doing fairly well, especially with AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI, LOVE AAJ KAL and her own JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA being the hugest examples to substantiate the claim. In such market scenario, it seems like the safest bet to follow the trend and CHANCE PE DANCE just about fits the bill.
