CHANCE PE DANCE had a lukewarm start in the domestic market. The morning and noon shows ranged from 15% to 25%. The opening has come as a rude shock since Shahid's KISMET KONNECTION as well as KAMINEY had embarked on a flying start.

Even DIL BOLE HADIPPA, which was not really a Shahid film, had opened better than CHANCE PE DANCE. Will CHANCE PE DANCE show an escalation in business in its evening shows and will it show a big jump on Saturday and Sunday, is to be seen.

UTV Motion Pictures are quite excited about the prospects of their upcoming release CHANCE PE DANCE and this excitement comes with a reason. A good chunk of investment made in the film has already been recovered and theatrical revenue is expected to make it a plus film within days of release.

"Cost of production of CHANCE PE DANCE is 20 crores while additional 5 crores has been spent on print and publicity. Given the kind of buzz that the film has managed to create, it should be a matter of a few days before this investment is recovered", confirms Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO UTV Motion Pictures.

UTV Motion Pictures, one of the top corporate film making houses in Bollywood, had a poor 2009 with the count of flops exceeding their successful outings. Leaving mega disappointments like KURBAAN, DELHI 6 and WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? behind, UTV is now bullish about 2010 with a dozen odd films in different stages of production.

"Yes, we had a lower success rate in 2009", agrees Siddharth, "We did introspect the cause of those films which didn't work at the box office, just like we do for those which are successful. In any case it was a mixed year for industry in general."

In fact 2009 had begun on a good note for UTV and producer Ronnie Screwvala with Anurag Kashyap's DEV D finding critical acclaim as well as decent commercial success. However, biggies like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's DELHI 6, Karan Johar's KURBAAN, Ashutosh Gowariker's WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? and Salman Khan's MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA were quite a few setbacks that pegged them down to a large extent.
