Many feel Katrina Kaif is a delicate darling, but her Tees Maar Khan co-star Akshay Kumar doesn't think so.
"We were shooting for the song Bade dilwala and Katrina got so involved in her dance that she actually hit me hard with her elbow. The impact was such that the shooting had to be stalled for two hours," Akshay told reporters.

When Aman proposes to Kaaya, neither he nor Kaaya know about the generational curse that plagues Kaaya's family. Pashupathi tells Aman that in some cultures, there was a belief that a generational curse worked much after even the person who had uttered the curse was dead because, it was believed, that an evil curse when uttered stuck to an evil spirit and the spirit then became the keeper of the curse and it was the duty of that evil spirit to make the curse come true generation after generation. Aman asks Pashupathi if there was a way to destroy the spirit and get rid of the curse. Pashupathi tells him that there was a way but it was filled with peril. If he sets about to hunt and destroy a spirit then the spirit would also know that it was being hunted. It would become a war between man and the devil. Was he ready for it? Aman tells Pashupathi that he would fight for his love... and so begins their journey. Through the world of fear and intrigue and the eternal fight between good and evil. Will love conquer all? Cinema can go a long way in promoting positive bilateral relations between Australia and India, especially Bollywood films as they are 'all about heart', said Rani Mukerji, who was here as chief guest at the 2010 Indian Film Festival - Bollywood and Beyond.
'Cinema showcases different cultures and Indian films are all about our culture, our traditions, human relations and all about heart. So when Australians watch Indian films, they will get to know Indians better and that will help in knowing each other better,' Rani told IANS in an exclusive interview.
So will she act in a film on racism? 'As an actor, I would be part of any film that inspires me as an artist. If there is a great character for me to play, if I feel there is something interesting in the film about racism and if there is a positive outlook towards changing the mindset, I would hundred percent do it.'
She would like to do diverse, challenging roles. So does she feel socially responsible while doing a movie?
Giving the example of her role as a deaf, dumb and blind girl in 'Black', she said, 'I do expect that people who do not know about the deaf and blind get more aware of people like them. You should never pity them because they are such spirited, lively, fun people and there is so much to learn from them.
'Michelle McNally did graduate despite her handicap. The sheer fact that if you have the passion, nothing is impossible in life. That is what my character in 'Black' and the film taught me and that is what I would like to portray to the hundreds and millions of my fans who watch the movie'.
The festival, which opened with 'Black' and 'Dil Bole Hadippa' in Sydney, is screening a retrospective of Rani's distinctive films alongside recent Bollywood hits, some regional cinema gems and documentaries.
For Rani, every role is a dream role, but the role that debutant director Anurag Singh gave her in 'Dil Bole Hadippa' was 'wonderful'.
'It is wonderful being a man and to feel like a man and get attracted to beautiful women. It was a dream role because I could never imagine in my life that I would cross dress as a man. I also got to experiment with cricket, a sport I had never played in my life. I trained for eight months and fell in love with the game. And, of course, being a man and tying your hair up in a turban was the most relaxing part!'
Being a Bengali, was it difficult for her to play the role of a Sardar?
'Punjabis and Bengalis make a great combination; even marriages between them are lovely,' said Rani, relating an interesting episode about how she was exchanged with a Punjabi baby at the hospital and her mother had to fight to get her back.
'I still have to crack the code whether I am a Sardar or Bengali,' she said.
Rani also revealed that if she weren't an actress, she would have been 'a housewife with my sari tucked in my waist, making chapattis for my husband, raising two kids probably in Allahabad or Kolkata or somewhere where my parents would have married me off!'
So is she ready to direct films after a career spanning 17 years as an actress?
Rani was forthcoming: 'I would like to do a lot of things in life, but you never get to do everything that you want to do. When an actor probably completes 10 years, you are often asked would you like to direct or write?
'I didn't want to become an actress, but I became one and so I have this thing in my head that 'Never say never'. It is not something I have planned, but if I do get an opportunity and have this energy rush in my body to take up the responsibility of a director some day, I would definitely love to direct.'
Asked if she dreams about winning an Oscar, the multi-award winning actress said: 'I would dream about everything and as an actor our greed never stops for awards, recognition, fame, and love and warmth from people; so it is a never ending process for an actor.'
The actress, who chooses her roles with care and takes what inspires and excites her, is looking forward to 'No one killed Jessica', a film based on the murder of Delhi model Jessica Lall in which she plays the journalist.
'It is a very different film that I am doing after a long time. It is a very different and powerful role; so I don't know how my fans are going to react to it, but I am looking forward to it because it is an interesting movie based on a true life story.
Vishnu (Abhay Deol), a restless young man, itches to escape his father's faltering hair oil business. An old truck beckons, which Vishnu sees as his ticket to freedom. He offers to drive the antique Chevy across the desert to the sea, where it has been sold to a local museum. As he sets off across the harsh terrain of desert India, he discovers he’s not merely transporting a battered vehicle but an old touring cinema. Along the way, Vishnu reluctantly picks up a young runaway (Mohammed Faizal Usmani), a wandering old entertainer (Satish Kaushik) and a striking gypsy woman (Tannishtha Chatterjee - Brick Lane). Together they roam the barren land, searching for water and an elusive fair. The journey turns dire when they are waylaid by corrupt cops and a notorious waterlord. The key to their freedom is the eccentric collection of films and the two forty-year-old film projectors in the back of the truck. As in 1001 Nights, if the films are good, they live and move on. If the films are boring, they face death in the outback. The journey proves transformative for each of the travelers especially for Vishnu who discovers life, love and laughter on the Indian highway.

Ramgopal Varma is itching to tell a new story in his movies. You may garland him for his efforts or loathe him if you feel letdown, but you need to hand it to him for picking up stories that defy stereotype.
This time, in RANN, the maverick film-maker does an expose on the games the heavyweights in the media play to further their interests. RGV goes into the newsrooms and also behind it and throws light on the politician-industrialist-media nexus. Also, it’s an insider’s account of how news channels that are greedy for ratings sensationalize stories to grab eyeballs.
On surface, you don’t want to know what goes behind the scenes and how, at times, news are ‘created’ by vested interests. But RANN scratches the surface and opens a can of worms. RANN also mirrors the fact that just like there are good and bad people in every field, there’re some rotten ones in the media too who succumb to temptations and create news to climb the ladder of success.

Dhanya Nair, 24, better known by her stage name Navya Nair, is a Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada actress.
On 21st January 2010 actress Navya Nair was engaged to Santhosh Menon from Changancherry, who was working as a vice-president of an advertising company in Mumbai. The wedding ceremony will be as per Kerala tradition and will take place near Alapuzha at 9 am. A grand reception will be held on the same evening at 6 pm. Changancherry where with who’s who of Malayalam film industry.
The marriage ceremony will take place at her native place Cheppad in Alleppy district with Kerala Hindu rituals. According to the sources, around 5000 people have been invited for the glittering wedding ceremony.
Aamir Khan starrer "3 Idiots" has spurred Bollywood personalities to look at their educational qualifications, how they got their degrees and how students should lead their lives.
The film, about life in an engineering college, tried to give the message that getting a degree is not the be-all and end-all of education.
Here is how some Bollywood personalities react to questions on their student life and give their advice to students:
Urmila Matondkar: "I'm a BA in psychology. I was always under stress in both school and college as I had to manage both studies and acting. I dealt with it by diverting stress into positive aggression in my studies.
"My advice to students: Stress is part of life. You can't run away from it. So deal with it before it's too late. It helps to be book-smart at any time of life, as long as you learn from those books and not just mug."
Dino Morea: "I became a graduate. Was never stressed at school. Had the best time ever. Yes, if reading and being aware of a subject is being book-smart, for sure it's handy in life. I was never depressed in school. I was naughty, but I studied hard."
Kangana Ranaut: "I left school when I was 16. But I'm glad to tell you I've always been a topper in my class. To achieve that I used to study 18 hours a day.
"The science in school didn't help me much in my daily life as an adult. But the passion to be the best in my class and the love for books remain. Now I'm an artiste and I read on art. And I thank my hard work during school for this."
Pritam Chakraborty: "I did BSc honours in geology from Presidency College in Kolkata, postgraduate diploma in sound recording and engineering from the Film and Television Institute, Pune. I think mugging up and learning without understanding is useless in later life. But a basic education is important to build up personality.
"I used to feel stressed before exams after Class 7 when I stood first in class. Later everybody at home became interested in my rank and that was a matter of stress for me for years.
"I had music to kill the depression created due to studies. Also I had a great circle of family and friends. Doing badly in academics doesn't mean you do badly in life. Discover your inner strength and choose a career you enjoy."
Celina Jaitly: "I've done one and a half years of BSc and have a software engineering degree from NIIT. I scored 89 percent in 10th boards and 75 percent in 12th. I used to feel very stressed during board exams. Thanks to my parents I made it through all my panic attacks.
"Playing a sport like tennis or swimming is a great way to keep fresh and alert. I remember my mother insisted we play a sport for half an hour even during exams. It was a great stress buster. Focus well on your studies. Do meditation and take power naps."
Ken Ghosh: "I'm a 12th Standard fail. In school I was quite a smart kid and actually enjoyed studies because of excellent teachers."
Amole Gupte: "I was a class topper with distinction till the 12th, then passed BCom with 37 percent, having tasted theatre through degree college.
"I have no distinct school memories except for excursions, plays, poetry, elocution, quiz programmes and art melas. I remember my head mistress in primary school who instilled my self-worth by discovering my recitation skills. In high school I loved my Hindi teacher Naamvar Singh, a poet and lyricist of repute. And my English teachers Parmar sir and Acharya sir for their passion for the language and their love for Wordsworth, Auden, Frost and D.H. Lawrence."
Hollywood action star Jackie Chan broke his finger during a fight scene in his new film “The Spy Next Door”.
Chan noticed the little finger on his left hand was bent right back and dislocated before he felt any pain and decided to continue with the scene, reported imdb.com.
“I still do two punches, otherwise you have to do it (scene) all over again. I go, pow, pow and then, ‘Cut!’ and then I put it (finger) back,” said Chan.
It’s not the first time Chan has been seriously injured while making a movie, he fractured his ankle during “Rumble In The Bronx” when he landed awkwardly after jumping from a bridge to a hovercraft.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is now set to play Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s wife in Vishal Bharadwaj’s next movie “Seven Husbands”.
“Mohanlal will be playing one of Priyanka’s husbands in ‘Seven Husbands’. The names of other actors are being kept under wraps as of now,” a source close to the actress said.
This will be for the second time that Priyanka will play multiple characters in a single film. She had essayed 12 roles in Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Rashee?”, but the film failed to pull in audiences. “Seven Husbands” is Bharadwaj’s next venture after his acclaimed movie “Kaminey”, which also starred Priyanka. The movie is said to be co-written by Bharadwaj and author Ruskin Bond.
