Salman Khan, brand ambassador of the IIFA Charity Initiative in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Habitat for Humanity and UNICEF, has whipped up a wave of interest as Khan's 'Being Human' and his largesse have been well documented in most periodicals.

After the success of IIFA in Macau, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani will show up as hosts once again for the IIFA Awards 2010. Incidentally, Lara and Boman will play hosts for the fourth time at the Awards, while this is Riteish's third time teaming up with funnyman Boman.

"I've been to Sri Lanka earlier, it's a beautiful country," states Lara. "And now that there is peace prevailing there, it should be all the more exciting to go there now. Riteish, Boman and I bonded very well during 'Housefull'. And when we're playing hosts at IIFA, our script goes through changes for about five to seven drafts, before a final one takes shape."

Adds she, "Besides, it's great fun too coz' we incorporate the film bits in it and it's a challenge for us actors to be hosting the show. The charity initiative is a great idea and it's a great opportunity for us to contribute in our own way."

The former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez is all geared to impress us with her Marathi soon. And the person behind her soon to be fluent Marathi is none other than Riteish Deshmukh.

We come to hear that Riteish Deshmukh who stars alongside Jackie in JAANE KAHAAN SE AAYI HAI takes the time out between shoots to teach Jackie his mother tongue.

"Jackie is new to the industry and is making a conscious effort to improve her Hindi and to learn Marathi. Riteish was nice enough to teach her. In fact she is quite fluent in Marathi now," reveals a source close to Jackie.

We also come to hear that Jackie's Marathi is getting better than her Hindi...Well if the girl puts in this much effort in learning a language ,we're sure there is no stopping her from being the industry's next rising star.

If you are a 'follower' of this actor, you were likely to be posted with the news of his arrival in the city and also his fondness for it. "Off to Pune...I love that city..." said his tweet as Riteish Deshmukh drove down last weekend to promote his forthcoming film Rann. Interacting with the fans the star spoke about the film, his makeover and the city where he studied for a year.

Already in news and expected to take news head on, Ram Gopal Verma's Rann is based on media and claims to bring out the intricacies. Deshmukh plays the role of an investigative journalist, a shift from his comic image, which he says, had to be broken and this was the best film to do so with. "The knowledge Ram Gopal Verma has about the subject and direction is extraordinary. He was very clear about what he wanted to show and the projection of the incidents, so once we were briefed, our roles were very comprehensible to portray. Since I play a very intense role who is inherently a strong and serious person I had to be quite responsible other than trimming my hair and growing a beard," smiles the actor.

Rann also has Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep (seen in Verma's Phoonk), Gul Panag and Neetu Chandra. Deshmukh plays Purab Shastri whose stringent opinions on people centric news clashes with the differing powers. Sharing his outlook on the current news-making he adds, "It is easy to flip channels and comment on news but media is much more behind those headlines. It is all about the struggle that goes into procuring news, easier seen than done. Reporters, based on the sheer fact that they can question anyone from politicians, industrialist, sportsperson to an actor should make it unbiased, since the question is always offensive and the answer defensive. Being in the entertainment industry I at times observe that news are being created to simply fill the space. Media should project the approach of the masses as they are supposed to do, but it is necessary at the same time to not ignore the other side simply because it is apparently powerful."
